TANG HIN WAH

Tang Hin Wah graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and the London College of Music, majoring in violin performance. He was awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (L.R.S.M.) Diploma, the Fellowship of Trinity College London (F.T.C.L.) Diploma, and the Fellowship of the London College of Music (F.L.C.M.) Diploma. Tang received several scholarships, including the Birmingham Conservatoire Annual Scholarship, the London College of Music Entrance Scholarship, and others.

In 2010, Tang was awarded a scholarship to study with Dr. Rimma Sushanskaya, the last student of the legendary David Oistrakh. Upon returning to Hong Kong, he continued his studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, graduating with excellent results. After receiving a Master of Arts degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tang earned another scholarship to pursue a Master of Music in Violin Performance at the prestigious London College of Music. He graduated with distinction, and  a higher distinction was given to his final recital.

As an active solo violinist, Tang was invited to perform Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto in B minor with the Chinese University of Hong Kong Chung Chi Orchestra. Recently, he was invited by the Macau Military Club to perform solo pieces by composers ranging from A. Piazzolla to N. Paganini. In 2015, Tang was invited by renowned film composer Day Tai to record the solo violin part for the movie She Remembers, He Forgets, directed by Adam Wong Sau Ping. The film’s song, "We Almost Fly," won Best Original Film Song at the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards.

In addition to solo performances, Tang has participated in numerous orchestras, including founding member of the Hong Kong String, guest violinist of the Macao Orchestra and City Chamber Orchestra Hong Kong, concertmaster of the CUHK Chung Chi Orchestra and the Baroque Society, and guest concertmaster of the Hong Kong Elite Chamber Orchestra, among others. Recently, he performed on RTHK Radio 4’s broadcast show.

Besides performing, Tang is passionate about teaching. In 2005, he was invited by the Hong Kong Institute of Education to serve as a consultant for their School of Continuing and Professional Education. Over the years, he has taught at various local and international schools, including Maryknoll Convent School (Primary Section), Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School, Chinese International School, St. Clare’s Primary School, St. Clare’s Girls’ School, and many others. In 2016, Tang was appointed senior orchestra conductor and violin tutor at the renowned UK International School in Tuen Mun. He is frequently interviewed as a music educator by media outlets such as TVB and RTHK. Recently, Tang recorded an excerpt of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major for RTHK. Over the years, he has successfully helped numerous students secure music scholarships and gain admission to prestigious music schools, including the Yehudi Menuhin School (U.K.), Purcell School of Music (U.K.), Berklee College of Music (U.S.), and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

In addition to classical music, Tang has performed with many renowned pop artists, including Yoshiki of X Japan, IL Divo, Jacky Cheung, Eason Chan, Joey Yung, Gareth T., Endy Chow, Kay Tse, Alan Tam, Aaron Kwok, Andy Lau, Miriam Yeung, Sammi Cheng, Paula Tsui, Harris Ho, Chiu Tsang Hei, Alan Tsui, Chris Babida, Kit Chan, George Lam, Joseph Koo, and others.
